Short Artist Bio
Debora Hirsch was born in São Paulo, Brazil. She received her an MSc in Industrial Engineering from the University of São Paulo and an MBA from Bocconi University in Milan. Artist-in-residence at RU Residency Unlimited, New York (2018), she lives between Milan and New York. Hirsch’s interdisciplinary practice spans painting, drawing, installations, video and performance. Incorporating elements of the colonial historic period imagery, digital world artifacts, architecture evocative details, symbolic decorative fragments, organic life and scientific representations, Hirsch’s universe of sublime forms shifts between conjectures, interpretation and representation.
Hirsch’s work has been exhibited in galleries and museums including RU Residency Unlimited, New York; MAXXI National Museum of the 21st Century Arts, Rome; MOCAK Museum of Contemporary Art in Krakow, Krakow; nGbK, Berlin; WhiteBox, New York; Galleria Pack, Milan; Anthology Film Archives, New York; MuBE Museu Brasileiro da Escultura e Ecologia, São Paulo; Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Turin; Quadriennale, Roma; MAGA, Gallarate; PAC Padiglione d’Arte Contemporanea, Milan; Centro Cultural FIESP, São Paulo.
